What Do I Do? My Boyfriend of 8 years Told Me To Stop Acting Like His Wife?

What Do I Do? My Boyfriend of 8 years Told Me To Stop Acting Like His Wife?

Well, I feel like am still young for marriage. My only concern is “I should stop acting like his wife” – Queen, said (not her real name).

So I have been with this guy for over 8 years now, something that seems awkward in this generation of 1 to 3 years or “I am out” relationship.

We’ve been High school sweethearts, a relationship which has culminated to 8 years now. Just recently, for no reason, my boyfriend told me to stop acting like his wife. Seriously. I am disturbed as I do not know if I am giving in too much to him or what.

Even though we’ve gone far in this, I feel he is seeing someone else or something.

N/B: as I said, I am not over eager about this as I am still young for marriage. Just that, I am confused about what this means, as in, no possible future?

Please advise a Sister. Thanks.

The pieces of advice were given by kindhearted individuals.

#1. Des. W.

The Most heartbreaking thing to say, the best thing to do is just to STOP.

#2. Touch G.

The issue is clear, the Guy is not feeling it anymore, 8 years ago is enough to study a for Doctorate. (Paraphrased).

#3. DJ. B

It’s just that he told you something you didn’t want to hear, but you must be happy you now know where you stand.

#4. Di. P

You had EVERY right to ask, especially if his late coming was out of the norm. This world is dangerous, you were asking out of concern. A man will tell you to not act like his “wife” but still want “husband benefits”. NONSENSE!!!

#5. Inga

My advice though, start distancing yourself & act as if you’re minding less though in your heart you ain’t. If he respects you enough he’ll do the right thing.

#6. D. Mom.

Do want to be his wife… I’m asking because he having said that to you makes me think he has no intention of marrying you?

What are your thoughts?
